ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN DIPLOMA AND UG PROGRAMME
The Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English & Vernacular altogether with 50% marks for general & 40% marks for SC/ST are eligible for admission in B.V.Sc. & A.H. course, but they are to undergo a special Entrance Examination (EVETS) conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) for ranks in the merit list.
For admission in B.Tech (Dairy Technology) course, candidates are to pass the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English & Vernacular with at least 50% marks altogether for general & 40% altogether for SC/ST candidates. Besides, they are also to qualify in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination in the Engineering group.
For admission in B.F.Sc. programme, the students are directly admitted without any Entrance Examination but as per the merit list after qualifying with minimum 50% marks altogether in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English for general candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A & OBC-B candidates.
And for admission in Diploma course (DVP), the students are directly admitted without any Entrance Examination but as per the merit list after qualifying with minimum 50% marks altogether in Physics, Chemistry, Biology for general candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A & OBC-B candidates.
Besides, the candidates must be the domicile of West Bengal and must attain 17 years of age as on 31st December in the year of application.
RESERVATION OF SEATS IN DIPLOMA & UG PROGRAMME
Total number of seats for 4 courses :
B.V.Sc. & A.H.
Out of total no. of seats 22% seats are reserved for SC and 6% for ST, 10 % for OBC-A and 7 % for OBC-B candidates. In B.V.Sc. & A.H. course, 15% seats (11nos.) are reserved for VCI nominees and 6 seats each of B.Tech.(DT) & B.F.Sc. courses are kept reserved for ICAR nominees. Besides 3% of seats of each courses are kept reserved for Person with disability (PwD) candidates on horizontal basis.
Mode of admission is through counseling of the eligible candidates from the merit list of WBUAFS/WBJEEB ranks.
Mode of admission form fill up is through online for all Diploma, UG, PG & Ph.D. from the University website.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN PG AND Ph.D. PROGRAMMES
For admission in Post graduateprogrammes in the University like, M.V.Sc., M.Tech. or M.F.Sc. courses, the candidates are to get minimum of 6.2 Grade Point Average(GPA) for general category & 6.0 for SC & ST categories in 10 point scale in their B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.Tech(DT) & B.F.Sc. courses. Besides, they are to appear the written test examination and the Interview Boards of the department for Personal Interviews for final selection.
Similarly, for selection of the Ph.D candidates in the three faculties, they are to acquire minimum of 6.75 Grade Point Average (GPA) in the respective Master's Degree disciplines. Besides for selection of candidates, they are to qualify in the written examinations conducted by a duly constituted committee as well as they are to appear in the Personal Interviews for being selected in the Merit list. In the selection, equal weightage is given to the written examination and the Personal Interviews.
NUMBER OF SEATS & RESERVATION
Total no. of seats in P.G. programme in each department in an academic year is calculated in the ratio of 1:2 (Teacher eligible to guide a student : Number of Students) and also considering the availability of infrastructural facilities in a department and to a maximum of 6 nos. Out of these seats,reservation is followed as per State Government rules, besides 1 seat is kept reserved for ICAR for each department.
In Ph.D programme in a department, total no. of seats in academic year are considered depending on the ratio of 1:1 (Teacher eligible to guide a student : Number of Students) and to a maximum of 3 in a Department. Reservation of seats are followed as per Government rules.
